How is protein used in your body?

Protein provides energy, adds to lean muscle mass and aids in tissue repair. Do you need any more reasons to love protein?

How much protein do I need in my diet?

Protein should account for 10-35% of your daily caloric intake.  It is also recommend to consume 1 gram of protein per 1 kilogram of body weight (0.4 g per pound).
If you follow a vegetarian diet, it is important to eat several types of plant-based protein foods each day to get all of the essential amino acids your system requires - go Quinoa!!!
Consuming too much protein may be harmful to the body.  High amounts of protein in the diet put stress on the kidneys and liver as they try to dismantle and dispose of the extra protein. (Not to mention that too much protein makes you fart!)
