Weight loss is about knowing your calories. In the end the equation is simple eating less calories than you need per day to stay the same weight. However, you also need to make sure you get the most nutritional value out of the calories you do have which means eating smart and healthily.
Here are the basic numbers: to lose 1llb per week you need to burn 3500 calories or put another way you need 3500 less than your weekly total:
For example, an average 11st/70kg woman needs 1600 calories per day to stay the same weight. This makes her weekly calorie amount 7 x1600 = 11200.
So, to loose 1llb in weight (3500 calories) the average 11st/70kg woman will have to consume 7700 calories total for the week, or 1100 per day (11200 – 3500).
You can burn calories by doing exercise which must be subtracted from your total calorie intake too.
